A book accessible to all those who wish to delve into the psychological aspects of a mass phenomenon in times of a health crisis, as in the case of COVID-19. Despite the fact that information concerning health crises such as COVID-19 is very recent and in some cases quite changeable, I am going to present a work based on current data sourced principally from scientific publications, and which will include, from the same sources, statements from various experts. Juan Moisés De La SernaĪfter the very positive reception to the article entitled “Cual es el papel del psicólogo ante el nuevo Coronavirus (COVID-19)?” (“What is the role of psychology in the face of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19)?”) published in La Cátedra Abierta de Psicológia y Neurociencias on 12th February 2020,Īnd the general interest evoked amongst fellow psychologists and other people with an interest in psychology, I have decided to produce this book, which addresses the subject of the psychological perspective in times of a pandemic. Lot is also mentioned alongside Ishmael, Elisha and Jonah as men whom God favored above the nations. The Quran says that Lot is a prophet, and holds that all prophets were examples of moral and spiritual rectitude, so the report of Lot's drunkenness and incest is considered to be false. He was commanded by God to go to the land of Sodom and Gomorrah to preach to his people on monotheism and to stop them from their lustful and violent acts. His story is used to demonstrate Islam's disapproval of rape and homosexuality. He was commissioned as a prophet to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. According to Islamic tradition, Lot lived in Ur and was the son of Haran and nephew of Abraham. He also appears in the Bible, but the biblical stories of Lot are not entirely accepted within Islam. Prophet Lut AS ( Arabic: لوط, translit.: Lūṭ ), known as Prophet Lot AS in the Old Testament, is a prophet of God in the Quran. Although the angel Gabriel told Abraham that God's plan was the final word, and therefore Abraham's prayers would be of no effect, the Quran nonetheless reinforces Abraham's kind nature through this particular event. A similar example of Abraham's compassionate nature is demonstrated when Abraham began to pray for the people of Sodom and Gomorrah after hearing of God's plan through the angel Gabriel for them. Muslims have frequently cited Abraham's character as an example of how kind one must be towards people, and especially one's own parents. Despite this, the Quran states that Abraham in his later years prayed to God to forgive the sins of all his descendants and his parents. The Quran mentions that Abraham's father threatened to stone his son to death if he did not cease in preaching to the people. The relationship between Abraham and his father, who in the Quran is named Azar, is central to Abraham's story as Muslims understand it to establish a large part of Abraham's personality. Abraham's father is understood by all Muslims to have been a wicked, ignorant and idolatrous man who ignored all of his son's advice. In this sense, Abraham has been described as representing "primordial man in universal surrender to the Divine Reality before its fragmentation into religions separated from each other by differences in form".Ībraham's personality and character is one of the most in-depth in the whole Quran, and Abraham is specifically mentioned as being a kind and compassionate man. Abraham embodies the type of the perfect Muslim and the Quran mentions Abraham as a model for mankind. As a result of his unwavering faith in God, Abraham was promised by God to be a leader to all the nations of the world. In Muslim belief, Abraham fulfilled all the commandments and trials which God tried him with over his lifetime. ![]() ![]() Summary Prophet Ibrahim AS (Arabic: إبراهيم,) known as Abraham AS in the Old Testament, is recognized in Islam as a prophet and apostle of God (Arabic: الله Allāh) and patriarch of many peoples.
